Hot chocolate can be topped with whipped cream or marshmallows. Hot chocolate made with melted chocolate is sometimes called drinking chocolate which is characterized by a less sweet taste and a thicker texture.

Gingerbread Hot Chocolate is a drink that will warm the body because it is made from hot milk chocolate, which is mixed with dark chocolate, white chocolate, vanilla extract, pure maple syrup, ground ginger, mixed spices, and sea salt which will add a warm and refreshing sensation to the body.

Ingredients

  • 75g chopped milk chocolate

  • 50g chopped dark chocolate

  • 4 cups of milk

  • ½ cup orange-flavored liqueur

  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger

  • Pinch of mixed spice and sea salt

  • 1 cinnamon stick and 2 whole star anise for serving

  • Whipped cream and cocoa powder for sprinkles

Directions

  • Heat the milk in a large saucepan over low heat, add milk chocolate, dark chocolate, vanilla extract, pure maple syrup, ground ginger, mixed spice, and sea salt. Stir occasionally to combine and cook for 5 minutes or until the chocolate is melted and combined.
  • Pour the mixture over several serving glasses, sprinkle with Whipped cream and cocoa powder. Serve with 1 cinnamon stick and 2 whole star anise.
