Ingredients

  • 15 oz caramel

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips

  • 1 egg

  • 1½ cups softened butter

  • 1 cup powdered sugar or granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons shortening

  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 °. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick cookie sheet.
  • Put the butter and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl or mixer and beat until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla extract, flour, and salt to a bowl. Stir until all ingredients are combined.
  • Place the dough on a sheet of plastic wrap. Fold the plastic wrap around the dough and chill in the freezer or refrigerator for 20 minutes or until the dough expands.
  • Roll out the dough until it is ¼ to ½ inch thick. Use a 2 or 3 inch round cake cutter to cut the cake. Place the cake on the prepared baking sheet at least 1 inch apart. Do it until the dough runs out.
